"THE OWLS AND THE MICE"

Created for a mythology course assignment centered on inventing original myths, "The Owls" and "The Mice" draw from the historical fear and superstition surrounding both animals. I chose to reimagine them as haunting, humanoid creatures lurking within the woods, using their unsettling beauty and bewitching appearances to lure wandering travelers deeper into the forest.
"THE OWLS"
The owls are harbingers of death, inhabiting the flooded forests beneath the weeping willows. Their dancing and calls are used to lure travelers away from familiar paths and further into the water. Their presence serves as both an omen and an invitation, drawing those who encounter them toward their demise.
"THE MICE"
The mice are hunters that inhabit the deeper reaches of the forest, preying on those who stray too far into their territory. They stalk travelers quietly through the woods, waiting until they are isolated before closing in. Within the myth, they represent the danger of venturing beyond familiar ground and becoming prey in a place where you do not belong.
