"Harmony & Discord"

Inspired by New England Scrimshaw, "Harmony and Discord" is a piece exploring the contrast between Indigenous and commercial whaling practices through the depiction of two harpoons. One represents industrial hunting methods associated with suffering, while the other reflects traditional Indigenous practices centered on respect and necessity. Hand-carved into scratchboard, the piece was then digitally altered and illustrated upon to create the final rendering.
